Sometimes life is so busy, so stressful, and so overwhelming that having a conversation with a 4-year-old is an absolute necessity.  Each of my children bring great joy to my life and my love for them is as unique and different as they are.  But, I honestly must say that I did not have the time or maturity to really enjoy my children in their younger years, until the third time around….and my youngest one is hilarious!  I thought you may enjoy hearing some of our random conversations.

“Momma, can I have a twin, pleeezzzeee?!” Continue reading »

I stumbled across a song tonight that I have always loved and that truly captured what I was feeling and in listening to the words of the song “That’s What Friends Are For” by Dionne Warwick I felt compelled to write about those people in our lives that leave footprints on our souls – our best friends. I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for those people in my life that I am honored to have as friends and quite honestly don’t know what I would do without. We all have friends, we all need friends and to some, we are that friend that will never be forgotten.

There are many things in life to be thankful for and I have found myself thanking God for many things in past weeks but one of the things I have been most grateful for are my friends. Life is good and life can be tough and recently I was reminded how true friends are present in love and support regardless of the good and bad. It is with love in my heart that I share those qualities that I have found in a true friend…..

♥ A true friend is someone that loves and accepts ALL of who you are….. Continue reading »

Have you ever heard the story about the little boy who answered the phone call?

One day, the phone rang, and the little boy answered.

May I speak to your parents?”
“They’re busy.”

“Oh. Is anybody else there?”
“The police.”

Many people who read this blog ask me to talk about dating as a single parent. I am not much of a dater but whatever knowledge comes my way…I promise to share.

This is a doozy! So, if you are single and dating, listen up. If you know someone who is single…listen up!

I spent this last weekend in Idaho with my wonderful friend Roxy. It was her 40th Birthday. She has a wonderful group of friends that I learned more from than I could have imagined. Continue reading »

Which one of us hasn’t been there? We have too much on our plate.  We are running a household, planning the family budget, playing soccer mom, counselor, and friend.  We have laundry to do, dinner to prepare, homework to check, and grocery list to write.  And if those kids don’t stop screaming in the back of the house……….well, they just don’t want you to have to go back there! You know the story.

Add single parenting to your plate.  Add the fact that you have no emotional support from a spouse that you can lean on during the tough days.  It can be stressful, to say the least.

The stress and frustration that many single parents experience can be overwhelming at times.  I wanted to offer a few thoughts on how I survived those stressful times in my own life. Continue reading »

“You cannot be true to others if you cannot live true to yourself. Look in the mirror and take a hard and honest look at the person staring back at you. If a stranger is saying hello it is time to make a change and find the amazing person you were always meant to be – you don’t have to search far for that amazing person has never left your side.”  Michele DeVille

Have you ever found yourself looking in the mirror and wondered who was staring back at you? Have you looked hard at your own reflection and struggled to find anything familiar feeling as if you were meeting a stranger for the first time? I have and it is a scary and lonely place to be. We all crave familiarity and especially when it comes to ourselves, our lives and the people and things we are closest too. So what happens when you lose yourself and suddenly everything seems foreign and the face staring back at you is no one you recognize at all?

First of all, don’t panic for I can promise you that you are not the first one to find yourself here and you won’t be the last. In all honesty I have been here more than once and I would venture to say that most people have been lost and questioned who they are at least once along the way. Life is not always easy and while I believe that most things in life happen for a reason there are plenty of things that happen due to the choices we make or the paths we choose in the journey. Sometimes it is those very choices or paths that lead us to that lonely place where we no longer recognize the person staring back at us in the mirror. Continue reading »
