This is one of my favorite pics of my youngest and me. She is now four years old and we had the cutest conversation the other day. She was looking at our wedding pictures and she asked, “Momma, where am I?”
“You weren’t there. You weren’t born yet.” I replied. She had a very hard time with the concept of not being born yet.
“Was I in your tummy?” She asked.
“No, not yet.”
“Well, where was I?”
Finally, I replied, “You were in Heaven,” thinking that would be a sufficient answer and we could move on.
She paused a moment and said, “Well….I sure missed you!”
Another Conversation:
“Young lady, if you do not do what I say, you will be in serious trouble,” I said.
“Will you take me to a whoopin’ festival?”
(For the non-Southerners…….whoopin’ means a spanking and no, I have never referred to such a festival. It was the funniest thing.)
Randomness:
She refers to french fries as “pencil sprouts.” (Don’t ask, haven’t a clue!)
She refers to me as her “best momma ever!” (Like there was another….)
When my 15-year-old son was four, he referred to black olives as “buttons”, strawberries as “trees”, and pineapple as “pinepapple”.
As my 15-year-old is now driving me around, I often wonder where the time has gone.
Want a piece of advice? Take the time to enjoy the “pencil sprouts” with your little ones and the sweet conversations with your teens…….they’ll be gone before we know it!

My 19 year old son and myself can go weeks not having a real conversation besides in passing you know! Then we will be going somewhere or stay up late just chatting and it is so great! Makes me tear up just thinking about him shipping out to the Army this summer! Enjoy your time now!
