This is a great video from Brene Brown and it is actually called, The Power of Vulnerability. It is worth the 20 minutes it will take to watch it. Okay, I know the chances of that happening are slim to none so at least watch the last 5-7 minutes. You will learn more and be more inspired to be who you really are than you can imagine.
I promise.
Do you know who you really are? Do you know your authentic self? Do you ever feel not good enough? Do you live the life you want or do you live the life others want for you? Do you have the courage to be imperfect and vulnerable? Can you dare to be YOU?
I believe you can.
I believe we all can when we release the fear of what others think of us – the fear of disconnection – not belonging. It is time to let go of blame and shame. They are the ultimate life zappers. When we release the need for outside validation, we can finally be who we really are. We spend millions if not billions of dollars going to therapy, seminars, visiting gurus, getting plastic surgery, etc. And for what? Ultimately, we want to be convinced that we are worthy of belonging and that we are good enough.
We ARE! And that was FREE!
I love how Ms. Brown describes what we do to our children. When they are born we look at them and call them perfect. As they grow we continue to perfect them. Her suggestion is that we let them know they are imperfect and wired for struggle BUT they are worthy of love and belonging.
It is time to accept that we make mistakes. We are human! We will be the hurter and hurtee throughout life. We will take the wrong paths. We will have to find our way back more than once. It is okay. It’s called life. But through it all, we are still worthy and deserve to have our own path…to be who we really are!
Don’t forget that.
This is the time. Let’s be our true selves – our authentic selves. Let’s give this gift to others, especially to our children. Let’s finally have the courage to be REAL in every aspect of our lives.
Dare to be YOU!
It might just make for an amazing life.
Until next week…
Davis.
