Most people have pretty much “shut-it-down” for 2010 and are already thinking ahead to 2011. I suppose I’ve done the same thing. Honestly, I think I began to close out 2010 two weeks ago! (I’ve already said “last year” a number of times—-referring to 2010.) So, as I’m beginning big plans for 2011, it is inevitable that I would reflect on my own 2010.
- We welcomed more than 100 new faces to HPC Single Moms Group (a single moms support group that I work with).
- I released my new book, Overwhelmed: The Life of a Single Mom (truly a labor of love), and it sold out on Amazon three times in its first 90 days and hasn’t stopped selling out since. Praise God!
- My son entered high school, got his driver’s license, and lettered in Varsity Football and Basketball (as well as grew several inches this year to now tower over the whole family).
- My oldest daughter became a teenager, got braces, grew a few inches, and became an awesome ballerina, and a dedicated athlete in volleyball and basketball.
- My youngest daughter entered into preschool, finally grew hair, and has talked non-stop for the last 12 months!
- And…………unfortunately, I’ve said goodbye to some great people, including walking with my husband through the loss of his father and grandfather.
All in all, this year has been a good one. I find myself, with each passing year, becoming more intentional about my relationships, who I do life with, and how I treat them – enjoying moments with my children, my husband, my friends. I am far more concerned with my family, relationships, and my spiritual life, than I am my bank account or status…………….and I must admit — it’s a good place to be.
I would LOVE to hear of some of your high’s and low’s of 2010! Please share.

Well, I joined the HPC Single Mom's group and it has changed my life. I look forward to my meetings now and needed that fellowship more than I knew. My son got braces this year and is doing wonderful in the 4th grade. AMEN! I have been blessed beyond anything that I deserve and only hope that 2011 holds the same. Thank you Jennifer (or I should really say thank you God) for coming into my life. You are a woman of such deep faith and you are an inspiration to me.
Looking back on 2010, I am blessed beyond measure!! I rededicated life to Christ on Feb. 7th (day the saints won the superbowl)which I considered an ultimate win for the Kingdom of Christ. I was baptized July and also spent a vacation with over 50 family members and friends. My twins started kindergarten and adjusted we’ll being in separate classes. I answered Gods calling to be a leader in the Single Moms Group and I thank our amazing leader, jennifer, to offer and support me I’m this opportunity of leading single moms , like myself, in their walk with Christ. Many hearts were saved, touched and healed. Many of the single moms established relationships with other Godly women who have impacted their lives and finally have the spiritual family they have prayed for. After 3 years of graduate school I finally graduated with my Masters Degree in Counseling and am ready for my next journey God has prepared me for. Although there were struggles to overcome and illness with one of the twins in particularly,Mccullen with 3rd degree burn, mono and a sprained ankle, God is our forgiver, leader, healer, provider, protector, comforter, confronter.. And with him ALL things are POSSIBLE. It is because of him in which my strength lies and I give him highest praise and thanksgiving for a blessed 2010.
Through the grace of God, I managed to buy a car, get my own apartment, find a really really good job, and serve more in both my home church, Journey Church, and the HPC single mothers group. It's also been a year since I quit smoking. I don't know where I'd be today without the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ! Halleljah!!!
and my 5 year old daughter started kindergarten!!!!

2010 was a challenging year for me as I have sought the Lord's will for my life. There are still so many things I am seeking answers on… mainly, what am I to do for work??? I said goodbye to my grandmother in January-hard to believe it has been a year already. I know there are many things I can be thankful for in 2010 (life my son's easy transition to middle school), but quite honestly I am happy to put the year behind me. 2011 is the year many positive changes will take place in my life and in the lives of my children. I just know God has great plans for us! Happy New Year everyone!
