My son and I had an extraordinary experience this Spring Break while on a ski trip at Mammoth, California. It was just the two of us, since my wife stayed home for work and my older son preferred hanging out with his friends and girlfriend (I can’t blame him, as she’s wonderful). So, it was a special alone-time-trip with my younger son, David.

Because our skiing levels and skiing interests are quite different, we tend to prefer to ski separately. I have friends there and David had some friends from school that he skied with. However, we always hook up at some point and one day, after he’d slightly hurt himself and was taking it easy, we skied together. Just a funny kid story

So a long long time ago I was at the lake with my two kiddos and my nephew. He was a few years older than my guys so the ages were probably around 9 to 6 years old.

They were kicking around on the shoreline rocks and I was relaxing in the cold water just near the edge. An old yellow lab approached them and just sort of “friendlied” up to them. He followed them around and sniffed at them for at least 30 minutes or so.

After some time I yelled over to my nephew, the 9 year old and told him to read the dogs name tag so we would know who was following them around. Continue reading »
