“Without a sense of urgency, desire loses it’s value”. ~Jim Rohn

I love this quote, stated by one of the most celebrated personal-development teachers of all time.

What do you think about when you read this?

Do you see areas in your life where your desires are losing steam because you haven’t assigned a matter of importance to them?

When I read this, I got very present to the words ‘desire’ and ‘urgency’.  One indicating a wish or an intention, the other describing a state of importance or necessity.

I then thought about my clients.  I pictured the ones struggling to make healthy lifestyle choices, even though they want their family’s health to be a priority.

It occurred to me, that in my coaching, I’m doing these families a disservice by skirting the ONE critical question:

How long are you willing to wait?

Really.

How long are you willing to wait to make sure your kids don’t grow up with risk factors for cancer?

How long are you willing to wait to protect your daughter from the emotional trauma of obesity?

How long are you willing to wait to save your heart so your kids don’t grow up without you?

Are you willing to wait a year?  A month? A day?

Are you willing to wait a single-second to give you and your family vital, abundant and optimal health, free from disease and disappointment?

This is called urgency!  And when you attach it to your desire for health – for your entire family – you will no doubt get the job done.  Not tomorrow, not this summer, not when you have more money, not when the divorce is final…

…you will do it now.

Please read this excerpt below, written by my friend Wade Perry:

“When people are interviewed about looking back over a season of their life and are asked if they have regrets, many have said yes. But here is the interesting part. Eight out of ten regrets are not that they failed at something. Instead, their regret is that they had an urge to do something and did not. And most did not try it because they judged it as too hard. If you have ever met someone who achieved what you did not try, I guarantee you have thought, “If that person did it, I surely could have.” ‘

Are you less deserving of lifelong health than those who already have it?  No!  The difference is that those who trust their desires, and realize they don’t have a second to waste, are the ones that create results in life.

Right now, this very second, take the steps to truly protect and transform your family’s health!

It starts by finishing this blog.  Then make a grocery list for tonight that includes broccoli, carrots, green beans, apples, grapes and blueberries. Use the recipes on this website.  Get online and finally research that karate class for your daughter.  Decide to limit dessert to three nights a week.  Learn how to read nutrition labels.

It’s all within your control.  You just need to do it, knowing that in the next second, if you don’t do something, you have decided that your family’s health is less urgent.

YOU are an amazing human being with NO limitations.  Do away with the words “It’s too hard”, “I can’t”, “I don’t know enough”, “I don’t have enough time”, “I’m too scared”.

Replace them with “I can”, “I am”, and “It’s done”.

Your family is counting on you to turn your ‘desire’ for health into ‘urgency’ for health.
