I know, I can’t believe it either…2009 is almost vapor.
Wow, time just races doesn’t it? Every year it seems like I am saying something like, “I can’t believe it’s October already.”
How would you rate 2009?
Was it your best year ever? The worst? Was it somewhere between “so-so” and “fricken awesome?”
Regardless of your results, the only thing left for 2009 is to learn from it. I encourage you to take some time and reflect back on ’09 and think about it in a very powerful way. It’s your life after all; you may as well celebrate it.
What did you accomplish?
What did you put off?
What did you really love doing?
What could you do without?
What new friends did you make?
What relationships did you cherish the most?
What things did you attract that were great learning experiences?
What skills did you learn that you will build on in 2010?
Write these answers down and spend some time thinking about them. This will create a great baseline for going into 2010.
That brings us to today…how do you plan to set yourself up for success this coming year?
Do you plan to set some New Year’s Resolutions? If so, how will you do that? Will you be like most people and just resolve to do things that you didn’t do last year like lose weight, go to the gym more, go to church more, eat better, read more, etc, etc, etc.
This is what most people do.
When I was in my early 20’s I worked in a health club in Atlanta. The number of daily workouts usually went up by 4 or 5 times in January. It was like ants at a picnic. People were everywhere.
It usually lasted about 8 weeks.
By early march, the Resolutioners were already fading away back to their lives of bon bons and cheesecake.
That’s not much resolve, is it?
How about this year, instead of setting a few resolutions, you take some time and figure out what you really want to create in 2010. The good stuff…the juicy stuff. If you can have whatever you want (which you can), what would you create?
What are your business goals?
Your family goals?
Your personal goals?
Your health goals?
Your spiritual goals?
What if you set JUST ONE GOAL in each area and sorted out some very simple steps and daily actions to support you hitting it? Give yourself small actions to bite off bit by bit. If you achieve it before December 31st, 2010, then you can set a new one.
When you can really see yourself achieving the things on your list, the Universe will conspire wonderfully on your behalf. You will attract the resources & people necessary for your success.
If you are with me, here are a few simple steps for setting up your goals so that you are using both your intellect and tapping into the creative power of the Universe.
- Make sure you really want it – it must be personal
- Keep it simple – don’t over-complicate the mind
- Make it measurable/specific – how much by when
- Write it in first person – Use I statements, step in and claim it
- Write it as if it’s already achieved – I have created, I am, I am enjoying my…
- Read them daily
So I guess you have some homework now, right? It’s good stuff. This is the juicy stuff that fuels our lives. We are all about progression as human beings. We absolutely must feel like we are moving forward, that we are getting better, that we are reaching a new level.
Set yourself up to win in 2010 and do it with a little flavor.
I’d love to hear from you. Please put in a comment with one of your goals for 2010. What are you up to? What are you committed to? Share one of your goals and start to bring it to reality right now.
